The horse is out of the barn, the genie is out of the bottle, the fat lady has sung -- use whatever cliche you wish to describe the status of Wisconsin's "do not call" list.
Now that the state's citizens have enjoyed the peace and quiet the list provides, they will not tolerate a retreat to the days when telemarketers used the phone lines to invade their homes with offers for time share deals, credit cards, mortgages and a slew (or, sometimes, slough) of other unwanted products and services.
Policymakers, telemarketers and judges should keep this certainty in mind as they try to sort out whether a federal "do not call" law -- and by extension, ...
