Metso Paper is establishing a service technology center in Sorocaba, Sao Paulo, Brazil. When opened, early in 2003, the center will employ 50 people to serve pulp and paper industry needs, including maintenance services, local support for new production lines in South America, roll service, spare parts operations, testing, and customer training.

* Metso Paper will deliver an extensive paper machine rebuild to UPM-Kymmene's Jamsankoski mill in Finland, Europe's leading paper machine for production of label papers. The project is scheduled for completion in spring of 2003, and its value is not being disclosed.
