For those of us who go to school, shop, dine out, worship and use a variety of other public and commercial services in Cary, here's a comforting bit of information.
There are more than 500 commercial sites and public buildings in Cary and their fire safety record ranks near the top of the charts.
"We have a very safety conscious business community," said Lt. Andy Veath, a firefighter and paramedic with the Cary Fire Protection District.
Veath, who has been with the department full-time since 1994, said over the years there have rarely been commercial fires in the community.
