Opel's 2-year-old project aimed at overhauling the carmaker's image is about to enter a key phase.

The launch of the redesigned Astra next March will be a test for the Project Olympia program, which was launched in April 2001.

Opel Chairman Carl-Peter Forster said Opel has had to work hard to win back customers who were disappointed with the quality of the brand's vehicles.

Forster said Opel's cars have improved, but it will take time for customers to catch on.

"We still have a lot of work ahead of us but I think we are making progress."
