Cox's Benji Nowak was standing in the fourth fairway at Kempsville Greens last Tuesday when a player in the group ahead of him drained a long putt.
"Nice putt," yelled Nowak from 100 yards away.
The player couldn't hear him, which was just as well, because Nowak didn't know who he was.
"We're just having fun," Nowak said.
Nowak secured his place among the Beach District's all-time best golfers last week by shooting 1-over 141 to win medalist honors in the district tournament. Nowak, a senior, tied with teammate Bob Boykin for first place last year, and placed 10th in his first appearance as a sophomore. ...
