Suck 'em, don't bash 'em.
This helpful household hint isn't from Heloise, but from bug expert Phil Pellitteri, on how to vacuum the Asian lady beetle -- the biggest pest on the planet right now, at least in southern Wisconsin.
"Use a shop vacuum to suck them up, not a regular vacuum cleaner with beater bars," Pellitteri said in an interview Wednesday, as reports of beetle swarms flooded the newsroom.
"The beetle bleeds when it's hit, so if you use a vacuum with beater bars you will make them bleed. They'll stain your carpet, and the yellow-green blood is protein, so it's very hard to get the stain ...
