Oct. 10--The architects of the new Federal Reserve Bank are being asked to design a timeless building -- handsome on its own merits and contributing to a revived Penn Valley Park.
Thomas M. Hoenig, president of the Kansas City Fed, has future generations in mind when it comes to what will be built on the panoramic tract the bank selected last spring after its controversial decision to leave the downtown freeway loop.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime event," Hoenig said. "It won't happen again for probably 80 or 100 years."
