CRITICIZING A NEW draft of the European Commission's (EC) chemicals regulation proposal as excessive and highly bureaucratic, the US chemical industry is urging the executive arm of the European Union EU) to make major changes before it issues the final document at the end of October.
The industry says the EC made only minor changes from the previous draft of its Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH) proposal, despite broad criticism from France, Germany and the UK, as well as the US and other governments.
