AN INQUEST into the death of a nurse from asbestos poisoning has been adjourned so it can be established if she worked at hospitals that used the deadly substance.
Joan Morgan died in May aged 60. The inquest at Southwark Coroner's Court, south London, heard last week that her GP diagnosed her in January as having the asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma. Mrs Morgan's son Robert told the inquest his mother worked at hospitals across London in the 1960s and early 1970s.
'The hospitals used to wrap the pipes in asbestos and some she worked at have been knocked down, so there is a high possibility this is where she was exposed,' he said. 'But she was brought up in the ...
