A GOVERNMENT agency has agreed to clarify its new guide on police security checks after the document caused panic among care home managers.
The National Care Standards Commission (NCSC) posted the Guide to Criminal Records Bureau Checks on its website two weeks ago. It was intended to help care home managers understand their legal obligation to carry out police record checks on staff.
But instead it sparked widespread concern as care home managers discovered a section that implied all care home workers would now need security checks carried out before they start work.
