PLANS to turn Battersea power station into a [pounds sterling]500million leisure development have finally been given the go-ahead.

A High Court judge has ruled against objections to the scheme, which involves hotels, housing and new transport links. The decision means that the scheme has cleared its final planning hurdle.

Objectors' claims about the environmental impact, which could have stalled the plans by developers Parkview, were dismissed by Judge Collins, who refused the Battersea Community Group leave to appeal.
