Oct. 12--As chief executive officer of Fayette County's tiny Highlands Hospital, Michelle Cunningham has watched new technologies, managed care and insurance industry dynamics drive patients out of her community health care institution.
Now, she's hoping a new service the hospital plans to offer will pull in not only patients, but people who have no health problems. A couple of weeks ago, Highlands began renovating a former laundry and storage building it no longer needed into a medical fitness center.
