Oct. 12--COLLEGE TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Bob and Zach Brinley's first rum trade show a year ago looked to be on the rocks before it started.
Two cases of samples hadn't arrived as planned. That left the Brinleys dipping into their luggage before the 2002 International Rum Festival in St. John's, Newfoundland.
Four bottles of their new vanilla rum for three days of crowds called for sober advertising methods.
"Would you like to sniff the bottle?" joked Bob Brinley.
