Ed Thompson, Wisconsin's most successful third-party candidate for governor in 60 years, derided the "stinking Patriot Act" recently in front of an appreciative crowd at a Rhinelander library.
"How can they do this? How can they start tracking our library cards?" the Tomah bar owner and Wisconsin Libertarian Party leader declared. "The government should get off our backs."
Thompson also has appeared in front of small-business groups in Hudson, La Crosse and Stevens Point, telling them they're "paying so much and getting nothing back" from Madison and Washington, D.C.
