Oct. 14--For most of its 60-year history, Oak Ridge, Tenn., was known as "a secret city" where the military developed and built much of its atomic and nuclear arsenal behind guarded fences.
But with the end of the Cold War, Tennessee leaders today are crowing about Oak Ridge and its research facilities every chance they can.
