If Mark Twain were writing this article, his account might begin: "Reports of the death of block scheduling have been grossly exaggerated!" In our work with high schools and middle schools nationwide, we occasionally hear comments from audience members who state something similar to the following: "I hear lots of schools are getting out of block schedules and going back to single periods."
