Texas Discount Real-Estate Brokers May Face Changes.

Oct. 14--When Dan Washburn hired Texas Discount Realty to sell his Waxahachie house in June, all he needed was someone to list his house on the Multiple Listing Service and on Realtor.com, an Internet listing service.

For $495, that's what the Austin-based company did.

Three weeks later, Washburn had a contract on the three-bedroom, two-bathroom house close to his $181,900 asking price. He did the negotiating himself.

By using a discount broker, Washburn said, he saved $4,800 after paying the 3 percent commission for the buyer's real estate agent.
