Oct. 14--John loved to visit Grandpa, because Grandpa would give him lottery tickets. Mark remembers the first time he lost a bet -- and all his baseball cards -- at the age of 9. Bernard went off to college and found his dream job, playing Texas Hold 'Em.
All three are compulsive gamblers. All three started gambling early in life. And all three were at the state Capitol Monday to bring attention to an addiction fed by a $60 billion-plus-per-year industry that has evolved from seamy to socially acceptable.
