Wild coach Jacques Lemaire didn't want to go overboard. Brent Burns has played in only two NHL regular-season games, after all.
Burns, a rookie winger, picked up the first point of his career in Friday's 5-3 victory over the New York Rangers, getting the second assist on the first goal of the game. After Saturday's practice, Lemaire went out of his way to praise the 6-4, 210-pounder.
Burns might be a work in progress, but it's the way he works at that progress that has Lemaire impressed.
"He had one of the best performances," Lemaire said.
What impressed Lemaire? "The way he plays, what he does on the ice," he said. ...
