Companies cut back reports - and St Ives suffers.

BRITISH and American companies have reacted to the economic downturn by scaling down the size, quality and cost of their annual reports - adding another turn of the screw for printer St Ives.

Chairman Miles Emley said that with the exception of the UK book market, conditions for printers particularly in the US and Germany remained challenging.

St Ives' book printer Clays printed all the UK editions of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which trade sources reckon ran to 3.75 million copies. With no new JK Rowling scheduled for this year the best-seller list is likely to have less impact.
