Attorney General Tom Reilly called on federal officials yesterday to write rules to let seniors, insurers and government programs buy Canadian-supplied prescription drugs legally.
In a letter to the heads of Health and Human Services and the Food and Drug Administration, Reilly said federal officials should take steps to ensure that such imported drugs are safe. FDA officials, citing safety concerns, have opposed Canadian drug imports.
"Somehow, some way, we find a way to import everything from automobiles to food," Reilly said in an interview. "There's a way to do it if there's a will."
