Anaemia is defined by World Health Organization criteria as a haemoglobin (Hb) concentration below 12g/dl in women and below 13g/dl in men. The prevalence of anaemia increases with age. This study investigated whether anaemia is, in itself, a risk factor for declining physical performance in older persons living within the community.
