DRINKING large amounts of coffee during pregnancy increases the risk of miscarriage and creates smaller babies, researchers revealed yesterday.
Caffeine consumption appears to harm the developing foetus.
Two studies looked into the effects of drinks such as coffee, tea and cola on unborn children by examining the diets of their mothers.
Researchers suggest that by cutting down caffeine intake during pregnancy mothers could reduce the risks to their baby.
Previous studies have also suggested a link between caffeine and low birth weight and miscarriage.
