Union pickets Stew Leonard's construction site in Danbury

Members of United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 210 are protesting construction of the second, multimillion-dollar Stew Leonard's Store in Danbury, claiming that one of the area's largest dairy stores is anti-union.

Last week, the union purchased full-page advertisements in several newspapers urging patrons of the popular Norwalk-based grocery store to boycott the company and shop for Easter holiday purchases elsewhere.

The company denied the union's allegations, noting that some 50 local subcontractors are working on the Danbury project and that it has purchased construction materials ...
