Polish government's 2004 budget bill damned by MPs for not helping poor, for not cutting deficits

The Polish government's PLN 198 bln 2004 budget bill received a chorus of laments during its first reading in the lower house Wednesday both from those expecting a left-of-center cabinet to help out the plight of the poor or unemployed with more spending and from liberals demanding fiscal control and lower deficits.
