Reports reveal health of looked after children: mental health problems affect 45 per cent.(News)(Brief Article)

A survey of the mental health of young people looked after in England reported in June that 45 per cent had a mental disorder and these children were more likely to have physical complaints. Assessment of 2,500 children aged 5-17 years (approximately one in 18 of all looked after children), found that 37 per cent had clinically significant conduct disorders; 12 per cent had emotional disorders and 7 per cent were rated as hyperactive.
