SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- California intends to operate the nation's leading program for the education and treatment of problem and pathological gambling, a state official charged with launching the model program said Wednesday.
"We intend for California to be a recognized leader," David Monti, assistant deputy director of the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, told attendees at a Responsible Gambling Awareness Week symposium at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento. The state agency is charged with setting up California's Office of Problem and Pathological Gambling.
