Oct. 17--Washington Mutual Inc. said Thursday that it will shut down all its locations inside Kroger Co. stores in Texas by March, with 45 locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and 34 in the Houston area.

The Seattle-based thrift plans to move its employees from grocery stores to existing and planned branches.

Washington Mutual will continue to operate 123 in-store branches in California, Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington state. It will also continue to operate two branches in Minyard Food Stores Inc. locations in Dallas and six in Fiesta Mart Inc. ...
