Alex Burleigh reached her goal of making the round of eight at the WIAA Division 1 girls individual tennis tournament.
That the Verona senior's prep career ended there was not a surprise -- nor was it much of a disappointment.
Burleigh lost 6-2, 6-1 to top-seeded Katie Potts of Milwaukee Divine Savior of Holy Angels in the quarterfinals Friday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
