An initial study of students' perceptions of their education placement at a special school for the blind.

The authors undertook this preliminary study to explore students' perceptions of why they were placed at a special school for their education and to learn students' views as to how that placement decision had affected their academic education and social experiences. Little is known about what students perceive as the reasons for or the benefits of their educational placements at special schools, although one past study has explored the perceptions of parents pertaining to their children's educational placement at special schools (Corn, Bina, & DePriest, 1995).
