Variety floods the beverage business

Seltzers, flavored water, juices and coffees quench consumer thirsts.

Last year was relatively quiet for big bottlers such as Coca Cola, Pepsico, and Royal Crown, but the beverage category on the whole was anything but quiet when it came to new product introductions. In 1990, Gorman's New Product News reported on 1,143 new beverage products, a 25% increase from the 913 recorded in 1989.
