GENEVA -- Oil-field service companies are positioning themselves for some early short-term deals in Iraq, stealing a march on international oil companies, which are increasingly resigned to a wait of several years for longer- term development contracts.
Iraq's oil ministry is tendering engineering and supply contracts for oil fields it intends to develop next year, as part of a plan to raise oil production capacity to 3.5 million-4 million barrels per day on its own.
Service contracts are planned for Hamrin and Khurmala Dome in the north and Subba and Luhais in the south, as well as for additional development at the producing North Rumaila and Phase 1 of ...
