Democrat political wonks and the reporters who follow their trail of crumbs from town to town recoiled in horror the other day when two serious presidential contenders did the unthinkable: They announced that they would not participate in the Iowa caucuses in January.
It would be wonderful to report that Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman and Generalissimo Wesley K. Clark had announced, out loud, that the Iowa caucuses are the dumbest and most overrated political exercise ever to affect the selection of an American president.
Or that they had refused to debase themselves by announcing, with a straight face, that America's energy future ...
