The North East Assembly has launched a new piece of research into young people's attitudes to education in the North-East.
It is hoped that it will make a significant contribution to the region's efforts to raise educational standards, which lie at the heart of improving economic performance.
The study makes a serious attempt to gain a better understanding of the reasons why young people in the North-East leave school with lower educational qualifications than in the rest of the country.
