A study by the National Prescribing Service in Australia indicates some physicians are prescribing a dangerous mix of drugs. Between five and eight per cent of patients taking the drugs Celebrex and Vioxx to control osteoarthritis pain are also taking an ACE inhibitor and diuretic to control blood pressure. Medical practitioners have been warned against that combination, which may cause gastro-intestinal bleeding and affect the kidneys.
