SEATTLE -- In protest of a recent proposal to tax espresso drinkers a dime a cup, local coffee shop owners dumped eight burlap coffee bags into Green Lake, emulating the 1773 Boston Tea Party.
But they filled the bags with balloons rather than corrupt the waters with coffee beans.
As much as anything, that action exemplifies Seattle's political-environmental consciousness, said PBS travel show host Rick Steves.
