SPRING GREEN -- Melissa Mellum is the lone senior in River Valley's starting lineup and the middle hitter wasn't about to let her high school career end on the Blackhawks' home court.

Mellum served five aces and sophomore Jessa Benson smashed 14 kills to lift River Valley over Dodgeville 15-3, 11-15, 15-6, 15-9 in a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal volleyball match Friday.

River Valley, ranked sixth in the Division 2 state coaches poll, will head to Richland Center today to face second-seeded Richland Center, the team that knocked the Blackhawks out of the 2002 tournament, in a regional final of the Portage sectional.
