More than twenty years ago, Bill Wilson sold a great multi-purpose 1911 for a lair price. Today, his product is even better.
If memory serves, the first major write-up of a Bill Wilson gun was in the November/December 1980 American Handgunner. At the time, Bill preferred to work only on late model Colt commercial 1911s, and be guaranteed 2.5" groups at 50 yards. In that article, 1 found the workmanship was splendid. We chucked a test Wilson into a Ransom machine rest and did indeed break 2.5" at 50 yards with Federal Match hardball. The hammer tended to "follow" on the light-triggered gun, but that was common with the custom trigger jobs of the time.
