WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Commercial egg producers will be encouraged this week to try a feeding regimen that addresses one of the most--if not the most--contentious issues surrounding hen husbandry, i.e., inducing molts through feed withdrawal.
The encouragement will come in the form of a recommendation that will be taken to the United Egg Producers (UEP) animal welfare committee this Wednesday and then to UEP's board of directors this Thursday and Friday at UEP's Annual Executive Conference in Albuquerque, N.M.
