Solvay America Inc., through one of its wholly owned affiliates, has acquired complete ownership of American Soda LLP from Williams Cos.
The purchase price was not disclosed, and the acquisition was announced Sept. 10.
American Soda, located in Parachute, Colo., was a joint venture between Williams (operations and financial partner) and American Alkali (landowner).
American Alkali is controlled by the Nielsen family, who discovered
the Parachute nahcolite deposit in the 1960s and developed a unique solution mining process for harvesting sodium bicarbonate and soda ash from nahcolite (Feedstuffs, March 6, 2000).
