Oct. 25--Wal-Mart Realty's reputation for dodging other retailers that want to buy or lease closed-down Wal-Marts is overblown and outdated, its realty representatives said.

The first thing the retail giant does when it puts darkened stores on the market -- those shuttered after a Supercenter opens -- is try to find another retailer, spokesman Keith Morris said.

Target Corp. probably need not apply. Wal-Mart didn't become the biggest retailer on the planet by making things easy for its direct competitors, and Morris said the way Wal-Mart deals with each building it ...
