Article: San Diego Officials Assure Visitors in Wake of Fires.

Oct. 28--San Diego tourism officials yesterday moved quickly to ease any concerns that the region was not open for business because of the widespread fires in the county.

Officials of the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau and the San Diego Convention Center immediately contacted 15 organizations that will be having conventions or trade shows in San Diego through Thanksgiving.

"With the way rumors fly, we wanted to be proactive," said Fred Sainz, a Convention Center spokesman. "We wanted them to hear the right information from us."
