SEATTLE _ Thirty-two years ago, Peter Fonda completed work on his directorial debut, a subtle Western called "The Hired Hand" _ and only now is the film finding its audience.
With a newly restored print making the rounds of film festivals, and a collectors' edition DVD arriving on shelves Tuesday, "The Hired Hand" is having a mini-renaissance. And the ever-grinning, still-lanky, 64-year-old Fonda, in Seattle last month on a promotional tour for the film, is only too happy to explain why.
