It might have a simple name, but the Chevrolet SSR is not a vehicle that can be described simply. The SSR, or Super Sport Roadster, is part car, part truck and part roadster.
It defies a conventional automotive designation because of its fashion-forward appearance and its hybrid nature, which is why Chevrolet is using the SSR as a "halo vehicle'' to spur interest and sales in General Motors' Chevrolet division.
"Being unique is a good thing,'' said Bob Walczyk, marketing manager for the Chevrolet SSR. "It's good to have a product which is an eye-catching piece.''
