MOLDOVA The general director of the state news agency fatally shot himself in the head as he was demonstrating a revolver.

Mihai Belous,41,died as he was showing a revolver to friends and family during a holiday in the village near Chisinau, the capital of the former Soviet republic.

Deputy Interior Minister Gheorghe Boisteanu said Belous removed all but one cartridge from the revolver,put it to his head and said: ``It can be tried this way, too.''

He then shot himself.

KASHMIR A fierce gun battle between Islamic guerrillas and Indian soldiers in Kashmir yesterday left four dead -two from each side.
