How to make sure a job move pays off
When Michael Valentine, a development director for a hospital foundation in Boston, decided to change jobs, his prospects included two hospitals near New York City. The offers were several thousand dollars higher than his current salary. But a close look at living expenses around New Rochelle, N.Y., and Stamford, Conn., prompted him to have second thoughts.
