Organic products have always been health food store staples but in recent years, they've become increasingly prevalent in mainstream grocery and other retail stores. Characterized as a segment of products produced in a health-conscious and earth-friendly manner, organic food retail sales have increased 23 percent annually, outpacing overall food sales five times over, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates.
