WASHINGTON, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- James Lee Witt, former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and a team of leading experts in fire research and fire protection today examined the inside of the Cook County Administrative Building. The team will look at factors that contributed to the loss of life and the spread of the fire.

Witt was retained by Governor Rod Blagojevich and the State of Illinois to conduct an independent investigation into what happened during the tragic fire on October 17, 2003. Witt and his team will recommend specific actions to make sure similar events never occur in the future.
