AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Once daily subcutaneous administration of the synthetic, selective factor Xa inhibitor fondaparinux (Arixtra(R)) is at least as effective and safe as intravenous unfractionated heparin (UFH) in the initial treatment of patients with symptomatic pulmonary embolism (PE) according to the MATISSE PE study published today in the New England Journal of Medicine.
