Our area is rich in history, and the Carol Stream Historical Society continues to do a tremendous job in preserving and sharing information about times gone by.
One such program the society is planning to highlight our history is the "Harvest High Tea" from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the recently restored Historic Farmhouse, on Lies Road west of Gary Avenue, Carol Stream.
Guests attending the event will meet the 1878 mistress of the house Maria Stark, portrayed by Carol Stream's own Carole Ellermeier.
She will entertain with stories reminiscent of the 1870s and share highlights of what life was like for a woman of that era.
